Tucked into the Campo de' Fiori area, this loft apartment puts some of Rome's best restaurants, shops, and landmarks within easy walking distance – a useful base however you plan your days. The split-level layout gives a real sense of breathing room (although the upper level is a little compact). Meanwhile, a fireplace adds atmosphere when the temperature drops and a balcony offers rooftop views over the city for slower mornings with coffee in hand.

Home truths

  • You'll need to climb many flights of stairs to reach the apartment – there is no lift. If you have reduced mobility, are travelling with heavy luggage, or have young children in tow, factor this in before booking.

  • Though there's enough bed space for five people here, we think it might feel a little cramped. We'd recommend a maximum guest count of three or four.

  • If you're planning to come as a group of five, bear in mind that the loft room is on the narrow side and has limited headroom or space for luggage. It's also semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited.

  • Rome's historic centre is a Limited Traffic Zone, so we recommend arriving by public transport or taxi where possible.

The square is watched over by the brooding figure of Giordano Bruno, who was executed for heresy on this spot in 1600. Today he oversees a bustling market selling fruit, vegetables, cheese, Puglian pottery, pasta of varying quality and, of course, flowers, mostly to tourists, although...
