A Cornish cottage with real room to breathe – main house and self-contained annexe together sleeping up to fourteen, with a games room, wood-burning stove, and a landscaped garden big enough to dine the whole group alfresco around a charcoal barbecue. The fenced outdoor space has a hanging egg chair, outdoor shower, and wetsuit hooks, which tells you something about the pace of life here. Charlestown's Georgian harbour and its tall ships are a five-minute walk away, and the South West Coast Path runs right through the village for coastal walks in both directions.

What to expect

Home truths

  • If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair. It's worth requesting these in advance to make sure everything is ready on arrival.

  • Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There is private parking for four cars.

  • Charlestown Beach is a short walk away and well suited to swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and rock pooling – so you'll want to make use of the outdoor shower and wetsuit hooks on your return.

  • One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.

  • The first bedroom has a super-king zip-and-link bed, which can also be configured as two twins.
