Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Perched on the bank of the Truckee River with pine forest pressing in on all sides, this mountain house earns its place in the Sierra Nevada. A stone fireplace anchors the living room, where the trees fill every window and the sound of the river drifts in from the patio outside – where a hot tub and outdoor dining area wait. Palisades Tahoe is about twelve minutes by car, Downtown Truckee around eleven, and Lake Tahoe's beaches roughly fifteen minutes away, so the range of what you can do each day is wide.

Home truths
You'll need a car here – street parking is not permitted, and you have space for two vehicles, with only one bay of the garage available to you. If you're bringing a trailer, contact your host in advance, and note that RVs are not permitted on site.
The wi-fi here works well for general browsing, but the mountain setting means speeds are likely to be slower than you'd expect at home – factor that in if you're planning to work remotely or stream heavily.
The lead guest must be at least 25 years old.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
