Tucked among vineyards and wheat fields in the Ostuni countryside, this villa is built around a pair of traditional trulli – their cool, rounded interiors a world apart from the midday heat outside. The pool looks out over the valley, with rows of vines stretching into the distance, and a centuries-old walnut tree shades the garden behind it. The three bedrooms each have their own en-suite and private entrance, making it a natural fit for groups who want privacy. Ostuni's whitewashed hilltop old town is a twenty-five-minute drive, and the UNESCO-listed trulli of Alberobello are roughly forty-five minutes away.

This is Italy at its most Italian, with year-round good weather (though it can get hot in the summer) and an estimated 60 million olive trees. That’s a lot of groves to wander through. Puglia’s also famous for its Trulli houses. The conical stone roofs of these huts are synonymous...
