With Gelato, simplicity is a virtue. It’s not crowded with objects, nor sternly adherent to an austere minimalism – it’s just a very pleasant place. The terrace is big, and has a lovely view across the rooftops. Direct access from the kitchen makes the possibility of an alfresco aperitivo even more inviting. It’s not very central, but Cipro metro station is very close, so getting around shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

About Valle Aurelia
Valle Aurelia is directly behind the Vatican, but you’d never guess from the number of tourists. Perhaps the nickname, Valle dell’Inferno (Valley of Hell) is enough to put them off. Rest assured though, it’s not a comment on the place, rather a reference to the presence of enormous furnaces in the area, which were in use up until the 1920s. It was the heart of metalworking, clay firing and brickmaking in Rome for centuries, and this instilled a vibrant working-class character to the neighbourhood, which endures today.

Host
This home is managed by Luca
This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Luca rents out this house and a couple of others around the city. It takes up enough time to be a full-time job, and he’s been doing it for years so knows the score. Together with his wife, he decorated the places himself and you can tell there’s a personal touch.
