A 17th-century palazzo in the heart of Matino, this house wraps three independent suites around a plant-filled inner courtyard – a quiet, green refuge that anchors the whole place. Star-vaulted ceilings and original tile floors run across all three suites, while a rooftop terrace reaches up to views of the Palazzo Marchesale, the village bell towers, and on clear days, the Ionian Sea. A plunge pool and outdoor kitchen make the rooftop liveable. Punta della Suina and Lido Pizzo are just a few minutes away for anyone wanting to trade the old stones for the sea.

Home truths
One of the three suites faces the street, so you can expect some traffic noise at times. The other two suites are noticeably quieter – worth factoring in if you're a light sleeper when choosing your rooms.
If you're travelling with a baby, your host can provide a cot – worth requesting in advance to make sure it's ready on arrival.
You'll need a car to make the most of the area. The nearest Ionian beaches – Punta della Suina and Lido Pizzo – are a fifteen to thirty-minute drive away, and exploring the wider towns of Salento requires wheels too. Free parking is available nearby.
