Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
A Grade II listed country house with 16th-century roots, set in eight acres of Suffolk grounds near Bury St Edmunds, this is the kind of place that rewards a long stay. The heated outdoor pool – said to be the deepest in East Anglia – opens to a sun terrace, and a woodland tennis court sits within the mature grounds where peacocks and deer roam freely. Inside, the house spreads across three floors of entertaining rooms, a cinema room, and a vast kitchen that spills out poolside. An adjoining annexe adds privacy for larger groups.

Home truths
The accommodation here is set over the main house, which has five bedrooms, and a separate two-bedroom annexe.
At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the first bedroom.
The final two guests sleep on futons in the stable rather than in the main house or annexe – worth factoring in when you're thinking about how rooms are shared out.
Air conditioning is only available in the first bedroom.
Only the library fireplace is a working wood-burner – the fireplaces in the other reception rooms are decorative. Your host lights the library fire during the cooler months.
The swimming pool is only available for use between April and September.
Early check-ins and late check-outs are available upon request only. They can be arranged close to your arrival or departure date.
