Tucked under the eaves of a stone building in the heart of Valbonne's medieval village, this loft apartment has the kind of character that comes from centuries of good bones. Wall and roof windows flood the space with natural light, and on Fridays the market sets up directly below – you can practically shop from your window. The living area opens onto an internal terrace – the perfect spot to soak up the sun before you head out to the bakery or the arcaded square. Antibes Old Town is about thirty minutes by car when you're ready to venture further.

Home truths
At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
The only full bathroom here is the en-suite off the bedroom – guests sleeping on the sofa bed will need to use this bathroom too. While the toilet is behind a closed door, the shower and sink are separated from the bedroom by a curtain, so privacy is limited.
You'll need to climb stairs to reach the apartment on the second floor – there's no lift, so it's worth bearing in mind if you have mobility considerations or heavy luggage.
The ceiling in some areas is on the low side. It might not be suitable for taller guests.
Your host can provide a cot for little ones.
The Friday market sets up directly below the windows, which makes for a lively, atmospheric start to the day – worth keeping in mind if you're a light sleeper.
