A 1930s villa on Marseille's Corniche, sitting in the 7th arrondissement with a terrace that looks straight out over the Mediterranean – boats drifting across the bay, sunsets doing their thing. Below the terrace, a pool tucked into the garden offers a cooler alternative to the sea. The bedrooms each have their own bathroom, which makes life easy for groups. Prophète Beach is reachable on foot via the promenade, and Vallon des Auffes – with its bouillabaisse restaurants and fishing boats – is a twenty-eight-minute walk along the coast.

Home truths
The villa is accessed on foot from a parking spot around 80 metres away – there are no vehicle drop-off points right at the door. This makes the home unsuitable for guests with reduced mobility or families travelling with strollers.
The pool is reached via a staircase from the terrace rather than being level with the main outdoor area – worth bearing in mind when choosing a spot to settle in.
If you're travelling with a baby or toddler, your host can provide a cot – request it in advance to make sure it's ready on arrival.
