Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Tucked into a pine-covered hillside in Tahoe Vista, this timber lodge house is built around a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that earns its place at the heart of the great room – exactly what you want after a day on the mountain. Wood-beamed ceilings and expansive windows draw the forest and filtered lake views inside, while multiple decks give you an ever-changing backdrop from morning through to sunset. The main suite has its own covered balcony and soaking tub for quieter moments. Northstar California ski resort is less than a fifteen-minute drive, and kayaking and hiking trails are right on the doorstep.

Home truths
You'll need a car to reach the home and to get around the area – and in winter, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is highly recommended given the mountain roads and snowfall. Bear in mind that Placer County strictly prohibits street parking year-round, so all five of your vehicles will need to fit on the driveway or in the garage.
The lead guest must be at least 25 years old.
For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.

Local guide
About Tahoe Vista
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
