Sitting atop a hill in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 19th-century horseshoe-shaped home is surrounded by vineyards on all sides – the 360-degree views are as good as they sound. The pool sits at the centre of it all, with the Piemonte countryside stretching out beyond the sun loungers. Inside, the original cellar has become a vaulted living room, its late-1800s brick ceiling giving the communal spaces real historic weight, while the dining area in the former stable adds to that sense of place. Private chef dinners and wine tastings can be arranged on-site.

Home truths

  • This home comprises three self-contained apartments within a villa – two of the apartments connect internally, and all three have independent access. The apartments sit in the guest wing – the rest of the villa is the owners' private quarters.

  • At full occupancy, four guests will sleep on four sofa beds in the living areas.

  • While bedroom one isn't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home. This room has a sofa bed.

  • Two of the bedrooms are on a mezzanine level and semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited.

  • Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany you during your stay.

  • While there's no air conditioning here, your host can provide fans for the warmer months.

  • Your host can provide a cot and high chair for little ones.

  • You're in a secluded hillside setting surrounded by vineyards, so you'll need a car to reach shops, restaurants, and nearby towns. Free on-site parking is available.

Famous for its eponymous sparkling wine – made from the Moscato grapes grown in the vineyards that cover the rolling hills to the south of the city – Asti’s impressive qualities extend far beyond its wineries. The Palio di Asti, a traditional festival that involves a bareback horse race...
