An award-winning terraced house in a quiet Islington street, this home earns its accolades through a striking design that unfolds across three floors. High ceilings, a skylight, and large windows pull in natural light, while the mezzanine bedroom – tucked beneath the eaves – is a satisfying architectural touch. Three terraces let you take the evening air at different levels, each surrounded by greenery. Granary Square's fountains and waterside cafes are a nine-minute walk away, and Angel Underground is within a fifteen-minute stroll, making this a calm but well-connected base in north London.

Home truths

  • There is no air conditioning here – this is standard for London residential homes. Your host provides tower fans, which help on warmer days, but the upper mezzanine level can get very hot during summer heat waves, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're visiting in July or August.

  • The nearest Underground station – Angel – is a ten to fifteen-minute walk away, and King's Cross is roughly a mile on foot. The area is well served by buses too, with several stops within ten-minutes. We recommend factoring this in when planning day trips across the city.

  • Your host can provide a cot for little ones upon request.

  • At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.

  • You'll need to be able to manage stairs here – it may not suit guests with limited mobility.

About Islington

Tree-lined terraces of very enviable Georgian townhouses, amazing restaurants, coffeeshops, and gastropubs, it's not hard to see why Islington is so popular with affluent media types. It's very well connected (ten minutes on the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus) and it's got a wonderfully residential feel - almost totally tourist free for some strange reason. Have a roast lunch at the Drapers Arms on a weekend and you'll quickly realise what makes Islington living so sought-after.
