One look at the rolling Painswick Valley views on the horizon from the outdoor seating area, and you'll understand why this cottage made it into our English collection. Tranquil, because of its secluded spot, the house boasts traditional wooden beams, a farmhouse kitchen and a wood-burning stove and pairs it with modern elements. If the large garden doesn't keep the little ones entertained – unlikely – there's also a games room with table football, but they might need help up and down the steep stone staircase to get there. Location-wise, you're near Stroud's renowned Farmer's Market, while Cheltenham is just a 20-minute drive away.

Home truths
We suggest hiring a car for ease – there's space for up to five cars.
Due to the rural location and access via a steep single-track road, low-slung sports cars should be avoided and a four-wheel drive is recommended in winter.
As there are stairs to climb, it might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
While children are welcome, this home isn't suitable for toddlers under the age of two.
The ceiling in some areas is on the low side. It might not be suitable for taller guests.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.
This home does not allow groups where the majority of guests are under the age of 25, or single-sex group celebrations, including stag/hen parties
