If you’re looking to be in the very heart of Madrid, this apartment in Puerta del Sol offers just that. While the decor is generic and not quite up to our usual standards, the location speaks for itself here. A balcony with views of the square is a nice touch and a generously sized kitchen will suit those looking to try their hand at homemade Spanish fare. And while two guests will need to share a sofa bed at full capacity and street noise is to be expected, we reckon you’ll be taking full advantage of this home’s unparalleled locale for sightseeing galore – sure to tucker you out for a good night’s sleep.

Home truths

  • The decor is very simple and generic and there's not much natural light here, especially in the bedroom. The aesthetics aren't quite up to Plum Guide's usual standards but we've made an exception to let this one into the collection on account of its great location in Madrid.

  • At capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area. Please note that there's no door separating the bedroom from the living room, so the space doesn't offer much privacy.

  • The building's lift is located between floors. In order to access it, you'll need to climb a flight of stairs (33 steps).

  • Given the home's central location, street noise is to be expected.

  • This host does not accept bookings from groups of young people.

About Puerta del Sol

Puerta del Sol is the epicentre of the city and home to Madrid’s most famous meeting point – ‘Oso y El Madroño’, the bear with the strawberry tree. The central square of this neighbourhood is quite literally where all the roads in the Iberian peninsula lead to, which means it’s really hard to get lost if this is where you want to go. This area is popular both day and night, with buskers, natives, and tourists snapping photos of some of Madrid’s most iconic sights.
