Ask the host anything
Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
In Rome, there’s a tendency for hosts to put less effort into their interiors the more central their home is. The logic says that people will come anyway. And for the most part, they're right. However, this is absolutely not the case with this stunning apartment. It might be on one of the most beautiful streets in the city, but you can tell how much care your host, Giacomo, has put into the design – both from an aesthetic perspective and a practical one. These are small things, like choosing materials that are easy to maintain but keep a bit of character. The brick fireplace is probably the best example of this, but we're also big fans of the elegant simplicity of the minimalist, black kitchen. Step out onto the quaint cobbled street outside your home, and you'll find yourself within walking distance of many of Rome's headline sights. Head west over the River Tiber, and within fifteen minutes, you'll be gazing upon Vatican City, the awe-inspiring capital of Christianity. Closer to home, you're a mere five-minute walk from Piazza Navona. The picturesque square buzzes with activity at all hours of the day and night.

Home truths
The entrance to the building is slightly confusing – don't be put off by the fact it looks like there's only the entrance to the shop
If you're a soft mattress sort of person, it's worth noting that this one is quite firm
There's enough crockery and cutlery for four people but no extra
Child-friendly amenities such as a cot are available upon request
The building doesn't have a lift – you'll have to climb around twenty steps to reach the front door
Two people will be on a sofa bed in the living room
Depending on preference, you might not find the hot water to be hot enough here
Because of the old pipework in the building, sometimes an odour may protrude from the shower drain

Local guide
About Navona
Stretching from Piazza Navona to the river, the area is one of the most atmospheric in the city. The Piazza, with its Bernini statues and Borromini church, is the main draw, but there are any number of golden palazzos, many with inner courtyards to explore. The area is sliced in two by Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, one of Rome's most frenetic roads, but you can dive down the nearest sides street...

Host
This home is managed by Giacomo
This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Hospitality and olive oil – two of the things Italy is famous for and Giacomo’s an expert in both. You can tell how enthusiastic he is about hosting, but he’s also really into food. His family owns an artisanal olive oil estate on the outskirts of Rome, and you can even visit it, if you ask nicely.
