Home truths
Without a home guidance manual, be prepare for some guesswork involved when working the appliances
At only 4mbps, the WIFI connection is not as strong as we’d ideally want it to be
Although there is a house alarm, without a fire extinguisher, fire blankets or first aid kit, this apartment does not score high in terms of safety
We'll admit we have overly high toiletry standards – but complementary ones provided here were under par
The provision of basic kitchen ingredients, crockery, cutlery, and pans isn't as generous as it could be, and the quality isn't spectacular
There's only one pillow per guest and the bedding itself is not as luxurious as we would want it to be

About Alfama
As Lisbon’s oldest neighbourhood, it’s not surprising that Alfama is also the corner of the city with the most character. Here, you’ll get an authentic taste of the real Portugal, away from the tourist-trodden trails of the centre. Unlike most of Lisbon, this area survived the famous 1755 earthquake, preserving an image of the old capital. Steep, cobbled streets are flanked with down-to-earth cafés, crumbling churches and intimate fado venues...
