Tucked among the trees on the edge of Vail Ski Resort, this mountain house puts over 5,000 acres of terrain at your door – and with direct resort access, you're on the slopes in no time. Come evening, the wood-burning fireplace draws everyone in from the cold, while the hot tub is made for clear-sky nights after a long day of hiking or skiing. Two self-contained lower-level suites, each with a kitchenette, give larger groups room to breathe without anyone feeling on top of each other. Pets are welcome, too.

And in the summer, the hiking trails can provide just as much activity. Vail is a real hotspot for this outdoor action, with vast mountain slopes and countless non-skiing options. The town itself, modelled after alpine villages in Switzerland and Germany, is known for its lively apres-ski scene. The surrounding towns and villages don’t have the same reputation for being celebrity destinations, but they offer quieter slopes and equally charming main streets.
