Two wraparound timber decks step down through the forest, and inside, vaulted ceilings with heavy wooden beams give the living room a classic mountain-lodge warmth, with a fireplace ready for après-ski evenings. A door-to-door shuttle runs to Northstar Village in winter, while Palisades Tahoe is 10 miles away and Donner Lake is a short drive for summer paddling.

There is no air conditioning here, so summer stays can get warm during the day. The ceiling fans will help, and evenings in the Sierra Nevada tend to cool off quickly.
Due to strict local wildfire regulations, all outdoor wood burning – including fire pits and charcoal grills – is prohibited. The barbecue is gas-friendly, and any violations carry significant fines under Lake Tahoe short-term rental rules.
The barbecue and all outdoor furniture are only set up between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so if you're visiting outside of those dates, the outdoor spaces will be more limited.
While this home can accommodate one additional guest on the sofa bed, the maximum occupancy is ten guests.
You'll need to be able to manage stairs to get around the outdoor area here. It may not suit guests with reduced mobility.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
