There's no air conditioning here, so summers can feel warm indoors – ceiling fans and cross-ventilation will be your best friend on hotter days.
Due to local wildfire regulations, outdoor wood-burning fires, fire pits, and charcoal grills are strictly prohibited – the gas barbecue on the balcony is your outdoor cooking option.
If you're arriving outside the summer season, bear in mind that the outdoor barbecue and all patio furniture are only set up between Memorial Day and Labor Day – roughly late May to early September.
Your host can provide a cot and high chair for little ones upon request.

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
