Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Tucked into the Sierra Nevada pines above Carnelian Bay, this chalet-style home has soaring windows, exposed timber beams, and a wraparound deck perched among the treetops. Evenings here follow a natural rhythm – drinks on the deck, hot tub, dark skies, and a real sense of peace and quiet. When you do venture out, Lake Tahoe's beaches are a three-minute drive for paddleboarding and swimming, and Northstar California is around ten minutes away when the snow arrives.

Home truths
This home is set over three floors, so you'll need to be able to climb stairs here. It might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
The main bedroom and second bedroom each have a single trundle that pulls out to sleep one person. These rooms might work best for families sharing.
Bedroom five has a single-over-double bunk bed that sleeps up to three – we think it's best for children.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a travel cot, and a high chair is available on request with at least twenty-four hours' notice.
Due to extreme wildfire risk, outdoor wood-burning fires and charcoal grills are strictly prohibited under Lake Tahoe short-term rental regulations.
There is no air conditioning here, so pack light layers for warmer months – the altitude keeps nights cool, but daytime temperatures can climb.
Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.

Local guide
About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
