Tucked deep in pine forest in Olympic Valley, this cedar craftsman cabin is the kind of mountain retreat that makes it genuinely hard to leave. Beamed ceilings, granite floors, and a hot tub on the stone terrace set the scene – soak among the Sierra pines after a day on the slopes, with Palisades Tahoe just a seven-minute drive away. Evenings are well catered for too, with a fire pit, alfresco dining terrace, and a games room to keep the group entertained long after the sun dips behind the trees.

About Truckee

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
