Sitting on eight acres of gardens, this castle was a case of love at first sight for us. There's plenty of history here, with the home being over three hundred years old – the garden is even believed to have inspired 'The Secret Garden.' Upon arrival, you're greeted by the butler, who will ensure you have roaring fires throughout your stay – perfect after a bracing highland walk. With two ballrooms, the home can be booked for weddings, and the two rooms with four-poster beds make perfect honeymoon suites. In the local area, you can play golf or fish (you'll need to book these in advance), cycle, bird watch, and visit distilleries to try the local wares.

Home truths

While several of the bedrooms and most of the bathrooms aren't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home. The ensuites are a mix of baths and showers.

This home includes a butler and daily housekeeping, and there are staff-only areas at the rear of the house.

Two of the bedrooms are in the annexe. These are family bedrooms and can include cots if requested.

There are badminton and basketball facilities here, along with binoculars for birdwatching and bicycles.

Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There’s free parking here.

About Inverness

With Loch Ness right next door, empty Glens dotting the countryside and the Speyside whisky region just down the road, folk tend to use Inverness as a base for exploring the untamed Scottish Highlands. But lingering a while in this small city has its rewards. Strolling between the willow trees on the banks of the River Ness and catching a glimpse of Inverness Castle is just one of those rewards....

This home is managed by Oliver

This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.
