With jaw-dropping views over Lake Ullswater and a private shoreline and jetty, it's clear what caught our eye about this 1900s gatehouse. There's an alfresco terrace to soak in the lakeside views with barbecues. But should the weather turn, the vistas are just as impressive curled up beside the wood-burning stoves indoors, and the games room will keep little ones busy. Set in the sleepy hamlet of Watermillock, besides two traditional pubs and a watersports centre, little else is within walking distance. However, the village of Pooley Bridge, with a cluster of shops and restaurants, is just a 3-mile drive.

There is private parking available for up to five cars and a hard standing for boats.
While the property has five bedrooms, the maximum occupancy is eight adults, as one of the bedrooms is only suitable for a child. Some of the bedrooms have zip and link beds which can be made into singles on request.
Two travel cots and a high chair are available for little ones on request.
There are stairs within this home which may be unsuitable for guests with restricted mobility.
Though the private lake shore and jetty are fenced off, children will need to be supervised at all times.
