Step back in time with a stay in this Victorian manor. Set on a private estate, with surrounding countryside views, it’s the picture of a countryside escape. When you can pull yourself away from the scenery, there’s also a cinema and games room. There’s plenty of space to spread out, including a snug, dining area, and living area. The living space is a little dated, but we think it adds to the traditional charm. Being a Victorian home, expect some low ceilings and uneven floors. The garden is on multiple levels, too, but it’s a great spot for the children to run around. Just keep an eye on them around the woodlands – there are a few fallen trees.

Home truths

We recommend hiring a car or driving here to get the most out of your stay. There's space for up to five cars on the driveway. There's also a free electric vehicle charging point here.

Your host can provide two cots and two high chairs for free upon request.

There's plenty to keep the whole family entertained here, including a cinema room and a games room.

The third bedroom has a zip-and-link bed that can either be two single beds or one super-king size bed. Let your host know which you'd prefer.

This is a Victorian home, so expect uneven floors and some low ceilings. The steps down to the cinema and games rooms are particularly steep. The garden is also uneven and gets slippery when wet.

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
