This rural cottage puts Snowdonia National Park on your doorstep. Built with traditional Welsh stone, what first drew our attention here was the panoramic views of Cader Idris. The best spot to enjoy them is the garden's picnic table, but nearly every room boasts a scenic outlook. Even the living area offers a glimpse of the mountains – and with the wood burner crackling away, it's the definition of cosy. Most of all, though, we love the location. Only one mile from Dolgellau, you'll have easy access to The Mawddach Trail (perfect for cycling) and Barmouth Beach (9 miles away) – not to mention a bevvy of walking and hiking routes to suit all abilities.

Home truths

If you're travelling with little ones, your hot can provide a free travel cot, high chair and stairgate on request.

There are no ground-floor bedrooms here, but there is a downstairs WC. Although it isn't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.

Although Dolgellau is 1 mile away, we suggest hiring a car in this remote location. There are plenty of private parking spaces outside the cottage. Please note that EV charging isn't allowed here – the nearest charging point is in Dolgellau.

There's a secure shed in the garden where you can store bicycles, kayaks, and other outdoor gear.

About Snowdonia

Mountains, lakes, wooded valleys and picture-postcard villages. We’re not in the Alps – this is Wales, and it’s as rugged and just about as exhilarating as you want it to be. Snowdonia National Park is a hiker’s paradise and home to Wales’ biggest lake and highest mountain. After you’ve tackled Snowdon (we won’t tell if you take the little train), there are countless other peaks and trails to explore, many...
