Clean inside, and with a pared-back look, Brera’s Style is, in itself, a comfortable place to stay. It could do with a bit more going on in the kitchen, but at the moment it still works for light meals, or breakfast. Where the flat stands out though, in a very noticeable way, is its position. Right on the border of Brera and the Quadrilatero della Moda, and only a block away from the Scala opera house, you can’t get more central, or more quintessentially Milanese, than this.

Far from the avant-garde scene, this district has conserved its beauty and it remains the most exclusive place to stay, right in the city centre. During the day, visitors parade on the cobbled streets, and gather around art galleries, elegant boutiques, and fine restaurants. Brera has maintained the exquisite flavour of its bohemian...
