Channelling the East London aesthetic with aplomb, this industrial-chic apartment in the heart of London Fields is an excellent choice for those wanting to split their time between relaxing in style and discovering the capital’s lesser-known hotspots. The living space is a punch of texture and colours – expect concrete ceilings, bespoke graffiti chairs, luxe velvet upholstery and moody black drapes. Enormous floor-to-ceiling windows frame London’s unmistakable skyline and flood the place with natural light. You’ll notice the bedrooms each have their own identity, with a statement wall in one and a funky patterned rug in the other. On sunny days, mix up an aromatic cocktail using the accoutrements from the bar cart and sip your concoction with a satisfied sigh out on the balcony. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you’ve access to a heated rooftop pool – now that is how you do a homestay in the city. When you’re ready to explore, the creative Netil Market, four minutes away, has a stellar selection of street food, indie boutiques and an on-site independent radio station providing the soundtrack to laidback afternoons. Victoria Park, ten minutes to the east, calls for picnics and leisurely strolls,... while Dalston’s edgy Kingsland Road will take you just over twenty minutes by foot.

Local guide
About London Fields
Less raucous than neighbouring Dalston and less family-oriented than Stoke Newington, if this corner of Hackney has a defining characteristic it’s the streetlife. Maybe it's the influence of the area’s large and ever-growing Italian community — with tables and chairs lining the Broadway Market thoroughfare, cocktails and cabaret seating outside railway arches and picnickers in the park in all weathers. The park is also home to the London Fields Lido - London's only 50-metre heated outdoor pool, open whatever the weather. Dive in and join the hardy regulars who swim all year round!

Grab lunch at E5 Bakehouse
The E5 Bakehouse is an East London artisan bakery and coffee shop using baking traditions from their ancestors. They also do weekly bread courses and the Curried Red Lentil Soup is delicious.

Have a local ale from the London Fields Brewery
This place is slightly too cool, but when you're feeling confident head on over because the work that goes in to these smooth as butter beers is outstanding. They have a lovely garden too.

Stroll down to Broadway Market
This Saturday market is Hackney’s finest. Broadway Market is as much about seeking out quality food as it is about just letting your hair down and soaking up the Hackney vibe.

Enjoy a summer outside at London Fields
This spot is pretty much your extended backyard and is the ideal place to relax and unwind, although it gets notoriously busy on a hot summer's day. Expect a young, hip crowd and a buzzing atmosphere.

Get your coffee from Climpson & Sons
A tiny fixture in Broadway Market serving some of the capital’s best coffee. From Monday to Friday it’s a popular place for a hot brew in relaxed conditions, but over the weekend expect long queues.

Admire the Rooftop views from Netil360
There's one thing you should know about this pared-down London Fields rooftop bar with panoramic views - there’s quite a bit of a walk (nine flights of stairs to be precise) but it's well worth it.

Grab some Vietnamese at Green Papaya
Cheap, fast and delicious. A combination not to be missed, specially if it involves soft shell crab, pho and noodles.

Eat Pizza made in A Disco Ball Oven
Bob along to Lardo for lunch after a hectic day exploring 'The East'. Hip, industrial-chic pizzeria that is intimate and serves possibly the best pizza in London.

Go for a stroll in Victoria Park
Known as the ‘People’s Park’, Victoria Park is East London’s favourite open space. In the summer it’s often taken over by festivals, while its V&A Playground is also wonderful for youngsters.
