Fast Cars is a great base for exploring Rome. Nestled in Monti (one of the city’s most charming neighbourhoods), with picturesque views of Foro di Augusto, we think this home has a lot to offer. Although it’s on the minimalist side, the features of the nineteenth-century building blend well with the more contemporary furniture. It’s right beside Mercato Rionale Monti, a food market popular with locals and tourists alike, where you can pick up fresh ingredients to cook up a storm at home.

Home truths
Aside from the TV, there aren’t really any entertainment options
The walls could do with a lick of paint to cover up scuff marks
The wifi was a bit slow when we visited
We found the bathroom to be a bit tired-looking – the limescale build-up in the shower could do with some attention
Even though there’s a lift to take you to the second floor, you still have to climb six steps
The decor is slightly lacking in character
