Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

This home is a former artist's studio that has been converted into a loft space – making it a perfect pied-à-terre in an awesome location. The apartment is well-equipped yet compact, with everything you might need for a comfortable short stay in the city. Kids will love climbing the ladder to their very own mezzanine bed space, while the grown-ups will appreciate the exposed stone walls and classic, minimalist design. A highlight comes from the shared courtyard, where you can enjoy a glass of wine on a balmy summer's evening, right under the stars. There's plenty to do in the surrounding neighbourhood of Canal Saint-Martin, which is fast becoming a favourite with a fashionable crowd. Stroll over to the canal and you'll find a range of restaurants and bars to try out, before taking a stroll beside the water. And, if you want to head into the centre of Paris, then the nearby Jacques Bonsergent métro station can take you there in around twenty minutes.

Home truths

The kitchenette is small, ideal for making a coffee in, but not for complex cooking

There's not much storage space so be prepared to live out of a suitcase

The outdoor space is shared with guests staying in two other units – if you would prefer to rent out the whole space, look up the listing "The Three Sisters" for all three units

Two of the beds are on the mezzanine floor which is accessed via some steep stairs, so guests will need to be happy to do some climbing

You'll need to keep the noise down to avoid disturbing the neighbours

About Canal Saint Martin - Oberkampf

Canal Saint Martin is to Paris what Williamsburg once was to New York or Shoreditch was to London. This part of town still retains a certain grittiness that has been largely lost from the abovementioned counterparts - gentrification is undoubtedly on its way but the area still feels authentic and edgy so get there before this changes! You'll be rubbing shoulders with Paris's hippest young things, smoking and drinking outside...
