Nestled in the picturesque Val di Sieve, this centuries-old villa radiates Tuscan charm. Sure, the interiors are traditional and the outdoor areas could use a spruce up, but if you're after space and character, you can't go wrong. All eyes will be on the vine-covered terrace, perfect for dining alfresco and enjoying the views. There's also a seasonal swimming pool, a games room, and many nooks and crannies to curl up in with a book or glass of regional wine. You're a bit far from shops and restaurants here – the nearest is about 4 kilometres away – but walking trails are on your doorstep. Florence is also a 45-kilometre drive if you fancy a day trip.

Home truths
While not all rooms are photographed, expect the style to be consistent with the rest of the home. The interior is dated and some of the outdoor areas look a little tired, particularly the pool terrace.
Your host can provide a free cot and high chair on request.
The swimming pool is only available to use between 10th May and 25th September. It may be shared, and as it's unfenced, children must be supervised at all times.
There may not be enough cutlery in the kitchen for everyone.
Due to the location of this home, hiring a car is essential. There's reserved parking on the premises, but the access road is long, bumpy and narrow.
Not all bedrooms will be available when there are less than the maximum number of guests.
