Charm and character can be nebulous terms, used without any real meaning, but on certain occasions, they are very apt. This is one of those occasions. The Old Hatter isn’t perfect, but the whole feel of the place, with its wooden beams, antique furniture, and terracotta terrace, is as if it were set in the countryside, rather than a few minutes from Campo de’ Fiori market. When it comes to authenticity, it’s hard to beat somewhere like this.
