Edoardo looks after a few places in the same building, so in a sense, it’s not a dissimilar experience to a hotel, albeit with the autonomy afforded by an apartment. The location is Ambrosia's calling card – it’s on a beautiful street in the very heart of the medieval city. It’s the perfect area for strolls, and there’s a restaurant and a wine bar on every street corner.

Home truths
While there is a sofa bed, we wouldn't recommend using it, as the flat is very small, and it's in the same room as the main bed
You'll have to take the stairs to the first floor – there's no lift
It can get quite dark in the flat
The kitchen's generally well-equipped, but it doesn't have a dishwasher

Local guide
About Navona
Stretching from Piazza Navona to the river, the area is one of the most atmospheric in the city. The Piazza, with its Bernini statues and Borromini church, is the main draw, but there are any number of golden palazzos, many with inner courtyards to explore. The area is sliced in two by Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, one of Rome's most frenetic roads, but you can dive down the nearest sides street...
