Local guide
About Valle Aurelia
Valle Aurelia is directly behind the Vatican, but you’d never guess from the number of tourists. Perhaps the nickname, Valle dell’Inferno (Valley of Hell) is enough to put them off. Rest assured though, it’s not a comment on the place, rather a reference to the presence of enormous furnaces in the area, which were in use up until the 1920s. It was the heart of metalworking, clay firing and brickmaking in Rome for centuries, and this instilled a vibrant working-class character to the neighbourhood, which endures today.

Host
This home is managed by Claudia
This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. While Claudia looks after most of the business of the flat, we actually met her mother, who usually greets guests at check-in. An ex-teacher, she’s really friendly and enthusiastic and made us feel at ease immediately.
