A Georgian terrace on a cobbled street in the centre of the city? You'd be hard pushed to find a more classic Edinburgh scene. This home benefits from the period design – with large rooms, wainscoting, high ceilings and huge sash windows creating a feeling of space. The windows at the back even offer spectacular views down to the quaint Dean Village and the Water of Leith. Yet, despite the period features, the decor is comparatively modern and lends the space an informal, relaxed atmosphere perfect for a family getaway or a weekend with friends. The kitchen-living area has a touch of industrial chic about it, with black metal light fittings, plush leather sofas, a wooden cart coffee table and a wood and metal dining table and benches. It all works particularly well with the wooden floor and simple colour palette. The large master bedroom is such an inviting space to relax at the end of a long day, while the second bedroom has a cosier vibe. Your warm and generous host is the cherry on the cake. We were impressed with their attention to detail and thoughtful touches – slippers for each guest? Don't mind if we do.
