Soak up the Aegean rays from this 18th-century cave house on Santorini’s west coast. You’ll need to climb the hill to reach this home, but once you’re up, you’ll find a pretty courtyard, a rooftop complete with a hot tub and loungers and a charming interior. This home is best suited to a family or comfortable group who don’t mind a lack of privacy – the master bedroom opens out onto the main living area here. That said, with ocean vistas and a sun-soaked terrace to sip locally-produced wine, much of your time will be spent outdoors. Perfectly placed to explore the village of Megalochori, so why not spend the afternoon wine tasting at the nearby winery?

Home truths
The villa is within walking distance of the local village shop, restaurants and winery.
Accessing the villa is via a steep hill and the entrance will lead you into a small courtyard. The hot tub is on the upper terrace, which is accessible by an exterior staircase from the courtyard. This may not suit guests with limited mobility.
The master bedroom and en-suite bathroom open out onto the open-plan living room – it lacks privacy, which may not suit everyone.
As there is no air conditioning available here, it could get a little hot during the summer.
This home is a traditional cave house, so you the interior doesn't receive much natural light.
