Right in the centre of the quintessentially British village of Ditchling, this cottage provides a cosy base to explore Sussex. We think it's a great pick for those wanting proximity to Brighton and Hove, which are just ten minutes by car. The decor is a little dated, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom, but you'll have everything you need for rustling up family meals. While there's no indoor dining room, there is space in the rear garden for dining alfresco during warmer seasons. The village is walkable with farm shops and local pubs, and South Downs National Park is nearby for hikers.

Home truths

Free parking is available on the street, and there are nearby car parks that offer free parking. If you're travelling without a car, Hassocks Station is just five minutes away in a taxi.

Both bedrooms are on the first floor so climbing stairs will be a requirement at this home. There are also a couple of small steps between rooms on the ground floor, which may not be suitable for all guests.

The bathroom and kitchen feel a little dated.

This home doesn't have a dedicated dining room, but there is space in the garden for alfresco dining.

    Self check-in is available here.

About Hove

Brighton's more laid-back sibling, upmarket Hove, is known more for its Regency architecture, stylish mews and stunning mansions than its close neighbour's hedonism. Colourful beach huts line its stretch of pebble beach, and the seafront is backed by Western Lawns with its skatepark and small lagoon. Enjoy a craft beer at one of the area’s stylish pubs or do some people-watching in the array of cafes. The family-friendly Hove Museum...
