As homes get closer to a city centre, they generally tend to get a little smaller. However, this apartment in one of the most coveted neighbourhoods in London proves that you don't need masses of space to create a stylish and inviting address. We were really impressed by the mid-century-inspired furnishings in the living room, the sleek marble kitchen and the similarly pristine bathroom. This tasteful interior feels entirely in keeping with the trendy Shoreditch locale, in which you're surrounded by some of London's most celebrated bars, restaurants and nightlife venues. However, despite this, the building's located on a quiet side street, so you can still enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. There's even a small park just next door where you can sit outside if the weather is agreeable.

Home truths

It's on the third floor of the building and there's no lift, so it might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility

The second bedroom is not pictured but it's a cosy single bedroom

There's an office building opposite, so you might need to close the blinds for privacy at some points

There's no private parking space, but Old Street underground and railway station is only five minutes' walk away

About Shoreditch

Even if you don't end up actually staying here, Shoreditch is a must-see part of London for any visitor. Its mix of filmset-perfect cobbled streets of early Georgian townhouses sit alongside converted warehouses and graffiti murals aplenty. Many of the artist residents who first made the area hip have had to move away on account of rising house prices, but there's still plenty to see and the area is ram-packed full of small galleries, independent boutiques and some of London's coolest bars and restaurants.
