Perched on a hilltop, the view from this villa takes in the scattering of white villas to the sparkling sea beyond. The closest of Crete’s sandy beaches is two kilometres away and the buzzing coastal town of Rethymno is a seven-kilometre drive. Outside, you’ve got a private pool with a sea view, a lounge area around the fire pit, a huge barbecue area for dining alfresco and a football pitch and beach volleyball court. Though Crete doesn’t see many chilly evenings, there’s a fireplace in the cosy living room, but the living space might feel a little cramped at full capacity with only two sofas and six places at the dining table.
