History lovers should consider this elegant apartment, set in a 19th-century palazzo. The Santa Croce district puts famous landmarks like the Uffizi Gallery just a stone's throw away, as well as a variety of places to eat and drink. Though the lift doesn't quite reach the fourth floor, this home provides a thoughtful space with a desk for business travellers, and roomy bathrooms for relaxing soaks. Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....
