Secluded from view by towering fir trees, you'll find this striking cabin in a dreamy clearing worthy of a Disney film. Between the trees, you can catch the breathtaking view of the Martis Valley from the home's private decks. Inside, a double-height, open-plan living area with wood beams, vaulted ceilings and a cosy fireplace is a welcoming space to relax with your group. There's a big, sociable kitchen with a breakfast bar and long dining table so you can all eat together, or slide open the doors, step out onto the huge deck and eat alfresco in the summer months. Elsewhere, bedrooms are tasteful and spacious, with our favourite probably being the fifth bedroom which has a floor to itself and its own deck – with a hot tub, no less. A shuttle to Northstar Village ski resort leaves from right outside the door so you can hit the slopes in no time, and in the summer there are water sports at Lake Tahoe, hiking and pony trekking in the forest and so much more to do.
