Snow bunnies and hiking enthusiasts will really appreciate this huge home in Italy’s South Tyrol. It’s a five-minute drive from the Plan de Corones ski area and is flanked by pine-clad mountains on all sides – there’s even a romantic castle atop the neighbouring hill. It’s designed for winter getaways with a heated swimming pool outside and an indoor plunge pool, steam room and sauna to soothe sore muscles post-skiing. There’s a private gym too. We particularly love the dining room with its vaulted ceiling and medieval frescos. It’s worth noting that, though the suites are lavish, most bedrooms feature a double bed and double sofa bed so there’s a lot of room sharing at capacity.

Eight of the bedrooms have a double sofa bed alongside a double bed, so at capacity there will be a lot of groups of four sharing rooms.
The swimming pool is heated in winter.
