Hidden down a long private lane, right at the end of the Beaulieu River, this home offers you a glorious slice of secluded countryside luxury set around sun-trap courtyard gardens. Absolutely nothing in this refurbished barn has been done half-heartedly. Owner Julian, a well-regarded furniture designer, expresses his artistic passion in the constantly evolving space. Furniture can come and go here, but Julian's bobbin carver chairs are a mainstay. They fit perfectly around the dining table that can seat up to eight guests. And on warm days, throw open the French doors to the courtyard for a sheltered alfresco feast. Walking past the colossal art pieces, accented architectural elements and earthy sculptures (we especially loved the elephant skull) is a surreal experience offering up a surprise at every corner. But when it's time to pause, sink into the squishy sofas in front of the log burner, or grab a seat in the enchanting garden and sip tea in the company of the resident chickens.
