This gorgeous 850 AD castle is situated south of the Loire Valley and just a stroll away from the picturesque town of Villeloin-Coulange. It was a former residence of the abbots of the Benedictine Monastery of St. Sauveur, as well as a visiting place of the kings of France. As such, it's perfect for those looking for an authentic holiday in the French countryside, as well as historical buffs keen on discovering genuine royal life in the region. With the well-preserved architectural history, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time the moment you enter the home. Luxurious, traditional interiors and antique furniture provide a sense of grandeur. We loved the private library, crystal chandeliers and floral curtains that give the home that je ne sais quoi. The famous bi-weekly market, historical buildings and great cycling paths make this a great base for exploration.

The five bedrooms in the main chateau can accommodate 12 guests, but the child's bed in the paired suite and attic room can be used as an extra double.
It's best to rent a car to explore the surrounding region.
Please note that there is no TV, but with plenty to see and do nearby, this provides more opportunity for exploring and socialising.
The wi-fi can be temperamental here. It might be worth bringing a personal hotspot device with you if you know you'll need to access the internet.
