This family home is perfectly situated for those looking to explore the New Forest. Overlooking paddocks and a picturesque green, this classically British home is all about charming country living. The immediate surrounds are of woodland and moorland bruised purple. Look out for the famous New Forest Ponies, which have roamed this land since the end of the last Ice Age. Stepping across the threshold, you’ll find a light, elegant and friendly interior, featuring a blend of pastel and gentle splashes of pink and blue. The grand main lounge with its mock-Tudor windows and floral armchairs is the kind of spot you’d enjoy a cream tea, dappled with sunshine. French doors let the light stream in and open up to the back patio. Here, there’s dining for the group as ponies graze just beyond the vast lawn. You can tell the hosts are dog-lovers, with a quirky collection of paintings dedicated to this beloved pet. We especially love the rustic wooden floors in the bedrooms. This home-away-from-home is perfect for families looking to enjoy the outdoors, perhaps ending the day in the local historic pub, with vast fireplaces ready to welcome any weary hiker.

There is a cattle grid near the cottage and you can hear it at night, however, windows are double glazed so noise can be shut out
The owners stay in the annexe from time to time – this is accessed separately and it does not look over the house
