For an island getaway that’s oh-so-convenient, skip the Caribbean and head to Croatia’s Ciovo. This villa is right on the beachfront facing the sea, but is just 20 minutes from the airport and within easy reach of the mainland’s attractions. There’s a small bridge in the historic town of Trigor which allows guests to drive on and off the island, but if you ask us, we’d skip the car journey in favour of a jaunt on the waves. There’s a mooring reserved for your use right outside the property, so hiring a boat is an easy (not to mention exciting) way to get around the island and properly explore. But if you’d prefer to simply admire the water rather than be on it, the villa has a private pool, pergola, and plenty of outdoor seating where you can relax and take in the view. The decor inside is minimalist but filled with character, with glass, slate and natural woods making you feel like you’re on the beach even indoors.
