About Kennington
Kennington is one of London's best kept secrets. It's famously home to the major cricket ground The Oval, but we're more interested in its Georgian architecture (check out the charming Cleaver Square, where you'll find locals playing boules and a cosy pub) and proximity to the cultural delights of the nearby South Bank. It's a diverse area, popular with young professionals and families alike - a good area to experience a taste of real London away from the tourists.

Local restaurants, cafes, museums, sites and activities, recommended by our community of hosts and travel experts

History class at the Imperial War Museum
If everyone is old enough this is a fun way to learn about modern British history. Recently refurbished and with a lovely Cafe, it is one of the most popular museums in town.

Support the community chefs at Bonnington Café
This local gem is a must. Come here for cheap and cheerful homemade vegetarian & vegan meals prepared by local neighbourhood cooks who take turns sharing their international menus with adoring locals.

Grab a pint and a bite at the Black Dog Pub
This bustling corner pub has all you need in a local: great food, proper beers and a lively atmosphere. Reservations recommended, especially for their understandably popular Sunday Roast.

Get down with a Dirty Burger
With burgers as sloppy as the name suggests, DB have earned a name for themselves for producing juicy, loaded-with-flavour burgers served up from the arches beneath Vauxhall’s railway tracks.

Escape the city at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens
Once Victorian ‘Spring Gardens’, the Pleasure Gardens today play host to a busy calendar of events from outdoor movie screenings to colourful lights shows. Great for a quiet picnic away from the city.

Order tea and cakes at the tea house theatre
This quaint tearoom is set in an old Victorian pub overlooking the Pleasure Gardens. They serve English breakfasts, cakes and loose-leaf tea, but don't dare to ask for coffee.

Grab a drink with a view at The Rose
Set yourself down for a meal and a pint alongside views of the River Thames at this traditional Victorian pub in the heart of Vauxhall.

Experience Cricket at The Oval
Immerse yourself in the history of Surrey Cricket Club at The Oval, take a guided tour to see the Pavilion, changing rooms, and the boundary. Enjoy a day of great cricket and entertainment.

Explore Beefeater Gin Distillery London
Immerse yourself in the history of gin at Beefeater Gin Distillery. Enjoy informative tours, fascinating exhibits, and delicious tastings. Knowledgeable guides make the experience unforgettable.
