Renowned art historian Elie Faure once lived nearby and the area remains popular with artists, among them the owner of this home, whose paintings decorate the walls. It’s enough to make you want to grab your best watercolours and head down to the Dordogne (just 25 metres away) to paint the swans gliding serenely along the river’s surface. After sunset, pour a glass of Bordeaux and grab a chair in the walled courtyard.
