This home sits at the edge of Exmoor, so it’s a perfect spot for keen walkers and peace seekers alike. Part of an old farm, there are thirty-three acres of fields and wooded valleys to explore. Be sure to keep an eye out for B and Autumn, the owners' two horses. There are hundreds of potential day trips, but our favourite is a drive to Widmouth Head, where you can spot porpoises, dolphins and seals. Dunster Castle, with its subtropical gardens and restored working watermill, is another fantastic day out. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby too – we’d recommend the Michelin-starred Masons Arms. This cottage makes for a cosy retreat after a day out exploring – so much so that you might just be tempted to spend the rest of your trip relaxing by the fire.

Home truths
We would recommend a car if you want to explore the surrounding countryside as public transport is thin on the ground
This is a period cottage, and some of the ceilings are a little low so if you're tall, there is a risk you might bump your head on a beam

About Devon
With its vibrant cities, wild moors and picture-perfect beaches – we can see why so many poets and writers, such as Ted Hughes, Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle, have been inspired by its stunning landscapes. Chic waterside towns such as Salcombe and Dartmouth appeal to yachties, while Totnes attracts a more alternative crowd. Or head to Exeter with its cathedral and riverside bars and restaurants on the picturesque quay....
