Unique, steeped in history and utterly charming, this gatehouse at the foot of Sudeley Castle is the perfect way to spend a couple of days in the picturesque Cotswolds. Split across two wings that are accessed via separate doors, you’ll enjoy snuggling up in the peaceful living room – we especially loved the regal tones and the antique tapestry that hangs above the sofa. There’s a well-appointed kitchen for home-cooked suppers and a neat courtyard with alfresco dining set for breakfasts in the sunshine. Spend a morning exploring the magnificent castle and gardens before strolling into Winchcombe, less than ten minutes away. Here, you’ll find a pretty High Street lined with bakeries, indie boutiques and quaint tearooms. If you’ve a taste for fine dining, the Michelin starred 5 in Winchcombe restaurant is sure to impress. But if it's pub grub and local brews you’re after, the nearby inns will set you right.
