Tucked away in the picturesque village of Wall in the high uplands of Northumberland, you surely won't be surprised to hear you're just a short way from the infamous Hadrian's Wall. It's a twenty-five-minute hike to the Planetrees Roman wall – enthusiastic walkers are sure to fall in love with this idyllic location. The charming town of Hexham, on the other hand, is a twelve-minute drive – here, you'll find Hexham Abbey, which dates back to 674 AD. It's not all about history, though – there's Northumberland's first Michelin starred restaurant, a two-minute saunter away where you can savour the flavours of Scandinavia. After you've been out exploring the area and enjoying long country walks, return home to the cosy wood-burning stove. This gorgeous place was recently renovated and now boasts plenty of modern comforts and luxuries without losing any of its original charms, such as exposed walls and vaulted ceilings. We love the faux fur throw in the master bedroom, as well as the stylish bathroom. Be sure to pack a good book and bring your favourite company for a trip you won't forget in hurry.
